The Changing Face of Adoption

Adoption has evolved over the last couple of decades to where there is less secrecy and more openness surrounding the entire adoption process.

Today birthmothers can choose and meet the family they want to raise their child.  There is openness in adoption so that both the birthmother and her child do not live with unanswered questions.

The birthmother no longer has to wonder if her child is okay.  She can choose to receive pictures, letters and in some cases, even have periodic visits with the child and the adoptive family.

The child doesn't have to wonder why her mother "gave her away." Instead the adopted child can know that she was loved by her birthmother and not abandoned.
